Transformations!

I have been reflecting on my life and the many things I have done. When I started analyzing it I realized I must get an unconscious kick out of taking something that I think is ugly and turning it into something that I think is beautiful with the resources I have in my hand.

Let me tell you some stories and see if you agree with my conclusion. First transformation that I remember that I wish I could change was my mom’s avocado green fridge, stove and dishwasher. As a little girl, I always thought it was one of the worst colors in the world and I had to look at it everyday. A million times a day. I dreamed we could get a different color. To top off the amazing color scheme was the red brick linoleum flooring we had to go with it. Thank goodness the old wood cabinets were painted white or it would have been a color storm in that tiny space. Oh, did I mention our kitchen table had avocado green trim on it. It truly was all “coordinated.”

The next transformation I had personally was an encounter with God. I had moment where I knew He was real and I was going to believe in Him and follow Him. I was certainly going to heaven! Even at three, it’s easy to choose between fun or pain. Get this, my encounter was with me sitting on the red brick floor against the avocado green fridge. The moment got even more real when I had made my decision and “the voice” whispered to me that what I had just decided wasn’t real and I wasn’t going to heaven. Thankfully, I didn’t fall prey to the fear and the lie and talked to mom about what was happening inside of me. She was able to explain the truth of what was happening. Immediately, the fear and presence that had come at me was gone and I skipped off to play. I went from darkness to light, from fear to peace, from a sinner to righteous in a moment. Best transformation ever.

As a girl growing up, my hair saw some transformations. I got into doing make-overs for awhile when I was a older. I loved looking at fashion magazines and seeing how you could change a person’s looks with makeup, hair, clothes, and photography.

The one thing that was built into me was the one thing that would give me a truly intrinsic and outward reward. My piggy bank was emptied to purchase my lifelong dream when I was 9 years old. My parents took me horse shopping at the neighbors. I ate, slept, dreamt, drew, wrote about, horses. To this day, I still can’t believe I didn’t invent Pinterest because my first real Pinterest account was started when I was 5 or 6 years old. I had a legal folder that housed all my horse pictures. I cut them out of any magazine I could. I drew endless pictures and tucked them in there. Guess what! I think I still have them in my childhood trunk. My first pony came home. He was all of 1 1/2 years old. I could lead him but that was about it. I remember it was winter and to get the halter on I had to lead him to a snowbank my dad had pushed up with the tractor. Then I was tall enough to reach his head. I am sure he probably never made it easy for me to halter him either. Thus, my journey began on how to train a horse. It didn’t matter how many times I fell off, I was living in my dream. I finally had a real horse!

To this day, I love seeing bad hair go to great hair, no makeup to great makeup, wrong outfits and colors to the right ones that all transform someone’s appearance. I like taking people on to learn how to play the piano. They may start not knowing what middle c is but by the end of the year they have played a whole book of songs. I love taking a horse that hasn’t been trained and bringing him/her to a place of oneness with me. I love seeing kids that have not been handled the best and given the love, respect and proper training and see them flourish into the people they were designed to be. I love taking a house and renovating it and making it glorious. I love building a new house and making all the amazing decisions on what it should have on the inside and outside. I love writing children’s stories. The process from an idea to being on paper and bringing the illustrations in makes the book come alive. The best is when it brings laughter out of people or touches their heart to think differently or motivates them to do something positive. I love seeing people start changing their mindsets and spirits to the truth and watching them receive the benefits of a positive life. I love seeing people realize that their health is a matter of choice. They can walk in health, have energy and live in abundance. I love seeing that they can do that and transform their bodies inside and out and their bank accounts.

I have been a make-up artist, horse trainer, coach, pastor, teacher, author, creator of life, parent, renovator, farmer, miner, seamstress, knitter, builder, painter, cleaner, a creator. I like the satisfaction of seeing nothing go to something beautiful. Transformations are powerful!
